The band will also feature Steffen Kuehn, trumpet; Dahveed Behroozi, piano; John Shifflett, bass; and Greg Wyser-Pratt, drums. Lington notes, ”I decided to do the music of Bacharach because of his jazz influenced harmonies, and the immense public appeal of his tunes, which usually do not go hand in hand.”
Lington is a performing member and composer/arranger for 2014 Grammy®-winner Pacific Mambo Orchestra, a 20 piece, San Francisco-based musical group leading the rebirth of the Latin big band sound. The orchestra uses the traditions of the classic mambo-craze orchestras of the 1950s to deliver their original music and clever, modern arrangements of classic songs.
Six-time Grammy® Award winner Burt Bacharach is one of the best-known composers of the 20th Century. In the 60s and 70s, he was a dominant figure in pop music, racking up a remarkable 52 Top 40 hits. Combining elements of jazz, pop, Brazilian music and rock, Bacharach created a unique new sound that embodied the time.
