Playing on Grammy Award-nominated album Jazz Hands by Bob James, Andrey Chmut– Ukrainian saxophonist, composer, and producer– is at the forefront of contemporary jazz. His collaboration with Dave Burns is a silky smooth production informed by jazz history.

At the age of thirty, Andrey Chmut has already recorded three contemporary jazz albums. His debut album Smoothability was included in the top ten Ukrainian albums of 2019. Since 2014, Chmut has been working with Ukrainian singer Jamala as her composer and producer, and over the past year has been touring the USA with Bob James for their Grammy Award-nominated album Jazz Hands.

Dave Burns Quintet carries on the legacy of Dave Burns– trumpeter, composer, and educator. Having recorded with artists Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Mitchell, Art Taylor, Dexter Gordon, and Milt Jackson, Dave Burns’ sound echoes at every crucial point of jazz history. Together, their sound blends Eastern tonality with classic Western jazz.
