Bay Area Salsa All-Stars Featuring Jimmy Bosch: A Tribute To “El Timbalero” Louie Romero

Aug 13, Sunday - 6:30pm
Salsa Stage

After a celebrated set last year featuring the region’s top Latin Jazz talent, the Bay Area Salsa All Stars make a triumphant return to the Salsa Stage at Summer Fest! This year, the ensemble of salsa heavyweights will be joined by New York heavyweight trombonist Jimmy Bosch.

The Bay Area Salsa All Stars is a project envisioned by Arturo Riera, Summer Fest’s Latin music curator and programmed / directed by Latin jazz flautist John Calloway, a much-respected Bay Area musician and educator. This get-together is sure to be an all-star blow out, and one of those things you’d only see at Summer Fest.

About Jimmy Bosch

Jimmy Bosch is considered to be a key catalyst in the ignition of the ‘salsa dura’ movement, blending old school tradition with a modern approach on the New York scene. A dedicated player from a young age, Bosch picked up the trombone at age eleven and began his professional career at thirteen,

Bosch played alongside Ray Barretto in the golden years of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. From there, he went on to play with Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, Pete Rodriguez, Celia Cruz and Spanish Harlem Orchestra, to name but a few.
