Chika Di

Aug 12, Saturday - 3:45pm
Latin Tropical Stage

Diana Trujillo, known as “Chika Di,” is a rising star who blends traditional Latin, electronic, afro, and pop with powerful Colombian vocals. She has credits on the hit TV shows Euphoria and Generation, and her debut album is set to release in 2023.

Diana was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. At age 12, she became deeply involved in music, joining the Corporación Cultural Canchimalos, which gave her the opportunity to travel the country performing traditional Colombian music. By her mid teens, she was performing with rock bands in Medellin and, by the age of 19, she immigrated to the SF Bay Area, where she found herself singing with various salsa bands. She eventually joined La Misa Negra as a singer-songwriter-collaborator, returning to her Colombian roots and adding an authentic Colombian voice to the band.

Chika Di has toured North America for more than ten years, with her previous band sharing stages and festival bills with acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Mon Laferte, Julieta Venegas, Ana Tijoux, Bomba Estéreo, George Clinton, Antibalas, Budos Band, Flor de Toloache and Ozomatli. That band contributed music to Gentrified on Netflix and Vida on Starz. In 2020, Diana began her solo project known as “Chika Di” and has released five singles to date.
