Playboyz Incorporated (PBI) has been San Jose’s premier Popping crew for almost 40 years. They were established in 1981 during the height of the “Popping” craze, a dance that has its roots right here in the Bay Area. Since then, its members have traveled the U.S. and across the globe to compete in world-class competitions, as well as share the history and culture of dance through teaching. The original group of three has now expanded with members from around the world, including Singapore, Ukraine, Vietnam, and the U.K. The group specializes in a variety of styles of group and freestyle solo dance, including Popping, Strutting, Boogaloo, Tutting, Waving, Robot…you name it!
Turf was established in Oakland to spread the original dance culture of and utilize it as a positive platform for dancers, the youth, and the overall community. Johnny Anthony Lopez better known as “Johnny5” was born in Oakland. He is a Mexican / Latino professional Turf Dancer and the founder of TURFinc – a local Oakland/ Bay Area-based company that hopes to instill positive changes in the community through dance. Johnny is involved in every single aspect of his company from talent scouting to MC’ing the events. TURFinc is currently on its 100+ event production and there is no sign of it stopping anytime soon.
NastyRay is a Bay Area local, breaking since 1998, repping San Jose, CA. Squadron and HipHop. Known for dancing worldwide & teaching dance locally / internationally.
Scarface is also a San Jose/Bay Area local repping Headhunters / East Side Union / Hip-Hop. He is known for his creativity and strength on the dance floor.
