Lily Hernandez Orquesta featuring Calixto Oviedo

Band leader and vocalist Lily Hernandez has toured Europe thanks to her ability to expertly channel numerous Latin music styles, among them salsa, ballads, samba, pop, traditional son and timba. For this performance, Hernandez and her Orquesta will be joined by world-famous percussionist Calixto Oviedo.

Since 2010, Hernandez has led her band, La Sonora Clásica. With that group, she’s done celebrated performances in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Italy and Sweden. She’s shared the stage with renowned Latin jazz musicians Ruben Blades, Danilo Pérez, Osmany Paredes, Oscar Stagnaro and Chucho Valdés.

For her Summer Fest set, Hernandez’s Orquesta will feature world-famous percussionist husband Calixto Oviedo. Previously, Oviedo has appeared at the Montreaux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival and the Montreal Jazz Festival. He’s also worked and performed with Cuba’s NG La Banda as well as artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Danilo Pérez, Arturo Sandoval, Ray Barretto, Chucho Valdés and Willie Colón.
