Surrounded by music as a child, Cabello absorbed Spanish music and rock and roll at a young age. He learned blues guitar from his neighbor, who mentored him and instilled in Cabello a deeper understanding of the art form. Between writing his own music and performing, Cabello quickly earned a reputation in the Bay Area as an electrifying performer.
His 2005 album Heartbreaker helped put his music on the map with its gritty, down-home blues tracks. After a string of singles, Cabello returned to the studio in 2015 to record Love & War, a dual exploration of rock and soul, featuring the R&B-flavored hit “Runaway.” Cabello’s latest release, Tattoos and Blues pays homage to San Jose and features his smoky vocals over driving guitar riffs.
Cabello’s music has brought him to Mexico City and the Virgin Islands, where he captivated crowds with his potent stage presence. In the states, he has performed at BB King’s Blues Club in Hollywood and New York, the Raider’s halftime show and SJZ Summer Fest.
