This all-star performance is a convergence of New Orleans cultural heavyweights. Crescent City musical veterans the New Orleans Suspects, alongside a guest appearance from vocalist Erica Falls, set the musical tone for a vibrant set.
The New Orleans Suspects started out as a pickup band at the famed Maple Leaf Bar and have been tearing up the festival and club circuits ever since. Before forming, the group’s members had performed with James Brown, Fred Wesley, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Joss Stone the North Mississippi Allstars, and more. Together, the Suspects have recorded and performed with the New Mastersounds, Dr. John, Leftover Salmon, Little Feat, Widespread Panic, Col. Bruce Hampton and many others. They’ve released five critically-acclaimed albums.
For their Summer Fest set, they team up with NOLA vocalist Erica Falls, who channels a sassy, soulful tone that recalls an earlier era. Noted as the “new queen of New Orleans Neo-Soul,” Falls previously toured nationally as the vocalist for renowned New Orleans funk band Galactic. Throughout her career, she has recorded and performed with icons, including GRAMMY Award winner Allen Toussaint, Sting, No Doubt, Joe Sample, Dr. John, Jennifer Hudson, and John Fogerty.
