Octobop

Aug 11, Saturday - 9pm
Adobe Silicon Valley Stage

Since 1999, Octobop has presented a musical tour through the 1950s showcasing this incredible period for jazz music on the West Coast including innovations in sound, harmony and arranging which impacted how and where we listen to music today. At this year’s San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, Octobop celebrates the release of their seventh album Live at Savanna Jazz.

Recorded at one of DownBeat magazine’s Top Jazz Clubs and composed, arranged and adapted by members of the group, the new album sounds are rooted in the West Coast jazz tradition and extend to compositions from Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn to Bob Brookmeyer, Lennie Neihaus and beyond to music by the Mariah Carey and The Allman Brothers.
