Seeger is the closest to the organ trio by heritage: He’s gigged with organ masters Dr. Lonnie Smith and Big John Patton and studied under the tutelage of pianist Ellis Marsalis, Jr. and vibraphonist Gary Burton. A regular on the New Orleans live music scene in many different settings, he is also on the faculty of the University of New Orleans Jazz Studies program.
When he’s not recording or gigging as a member of the Organic Trio, French organist and pianist Jean-Yves Jung can be heard in masterful guitarist Bireli Lagrene’s quartet. He’s also gigged with 2018 Winter Fest headliner (and former Paris resident) Dee Dee Bridgewater, drummer Billy Cobham and The Paris Jazz Big Band.
Rounding out the global trio, drummer Paul Wiltgen hails from Luxembourg and earned his Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He has played with trumpeter and Oakland native Ambrose Akinmusire, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and alto saxophonist/producer David Binney.
Organic Trio released its second album, Saturn’s Spell last years and continues to dazzle with its original compositions and an irresistible intercontinental joie de vivre that will be in full effect at Summer Fest 2018.
