Synchronicity is a classical jazz ensemble of alumni from various Bay Area big bands, in the tradition of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones and Oliver Nelson.

Calling themselves a “classical jazz ensemble” and “a little brass big band,” Synchronicity is led by flugelhornist Jerry Kroth, a professor at Santa Clara University.

Other member of the group — which includes no less than four trombonists, as well as baritone saxophone, piano, bass and drums — attended or have been employed by other local educational institutions, including San Jose State Univeristy. Synchronicity’s eclectic repertoire includes their own arrangements of classics such as “Killer Joe,” “Intermission Riff,” “Summertime,” “Stolen Moments,” and “It Ain’t Necessarily so.”
