SJZ High School All Stars U19s

Aug 14, Sunday - 12pm Noon
UA Local 393 Break Room Stage

The SJZ U19s feature some of the finest young musicians from Greater Silicon Valley in a small combo setting. It’s a self-run, self curated group that allows promising young players at the pre-professional level an opportunity to truly express themselves.

In the recent past, U19’s has performed at the San Jose Jazz Summer and Winter Fests, Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival, Joint Venture Silicon Valley “State of the Valley” and the “Season of Hope” Series at St. Joseph’s Cathedral.

Recent graduates have gone on to attend music programs at New York University, University of Southern California, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin College, Florida State University, California State University Northridge and San Jose State University.

The High School All Stars are led my Musical Director Oscar Pangilinan, a saxophonist, educator, and community organizer. Pangilinan has served as a faculty member at SJZ’s Summer Jazz Camp since 2009. Alongside fellow Summer Jazz Camp faculty members, he performs as part of the SJZ Collective. The group has toured throughout Taiwan and Japan.
