Unitarian Jazz Service

Aug 13, Sunday - 11am
Blues/Big Easy Stage

Sunday morning, join our friends at First Unitarian Church of San José for a celebration with a jazz accent. This year’s theme, “The Women Who Raised Us,” is inspired by Kandace Springs’ 2020 album of the same name, paying tribute to the female musicians who inspired her throughout her childhood.

In First Unitarian’s 11th annual jazz service, they will riff on this theme by celebrating jazz musicians who have raised us up spiritually through their music, their lives and their examples. While Summer Jazz Fest fills the streets of downtown, they’ll celebrate the stories and music of greats such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Mary Lou Williams, Nina Simone and Celia Cruz. A special collection will benefit our Progressions initiative, which helps low-income, at-promise youth in our community identify, cultivate and celebrate their gifts through music education and performance.

The church is located at 160 N 3rd St, San Jose, CA 95112.
