2023 Lineup / 200 Park Stage

On Friday, August 11th, Summer Fest celebrates 50 years of hip-hop. It was fifty years ago to the day that Cindy Campbell had the idea to host a back-to-school block party in The Bronx to raise money for new school clothes. Cindy recruited her big brother Clive (Kool Herc) to DJ the party. To keep the B-boys and B-girls dancing, he used his two turntables and a mixer to extend the breakbeats on funk and soul records. It is reported that a good time was had by all. But, more so, this was the big bang that ignited hip-hop culture which is pervasively seen today on a global scale.

On Saturday and Sunday, enjoy a classic Summer Fest mix of jazz, funk and global music.
