Friday night only, the United Lowrider Council of San José will exhibit 12 of its members’ cars in the Main Stage area, in celebration of the recent repeal of a 30 year ban on “cruising” in San Jose. From 1940s bombs to late ’50s and early ’60s Chevy Impalas, these classics have been fully restored and have been “tricked out” with modifications like hydraulics, air suspension and fabulous paint jobs.
The United Lowrider Council of San José was formed in a San Jose warehouse in 2018. Dedicated as much to public service as to the continuation of lowrider culture, the Council has participated in toy drives, backpack and school supply drives, providing personal hygiene kits to the homeless and the Farmworkers food caravans from San Jose to Salinas/Monterey, a recent response to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
